IMPIANTO OZONIZZATORE ACQUA PER DENTAL CARE
Project Summary
Microidea worked for one of Italy's leading suppliers of dental units (i.e., the automated chairs found in every dental office). The project solved the client's need to design and implement a water sanitization accessory. In four months, Microidea created a prototype that could be mounted both inside and outside the dental unit, leveraging its expertise in 3D design and firmware development to manage the various components: pump, pressure switches, ozonizer, and LEDs. The prototype was certified by the University of Bologna through chemical and physical analysis of the ionized water produced.
Client's Challenge
The client's requirement was to design and implement a prototype of a new accessory for sanitizing the water used by patients to rinse their mouths and to power burs during oral procedures. The new device needed to be able to be installed inside some dental units—using a mounting kit—and outside others. Therefore, it had strict space requirements. It also had requirements regarding power supply voltage, flow rate, and water pressure.
Solution
After gathering information on the required dimensions, power supply voltages, flow rate, and water pressure, Microidea designed and built the first prototype in about four months. The device, in addition to the actuators, contains an I/O interface board whose firmware was specifically written by Microidea to manage the timing and signals of components such as the pump, pressure switches, ozonizer, and indicator LEDs. The prototype will go into production with minimal modifications.
